Harry the Little Hippo Learns His Lesson

Harry the Little Hippo Learns His Lesson is the first illustrated children’s book in Terence Sorour’s Harry the Little Hippo series. It follows young Harry as he grows up with Pa and Ma Hippo in a river pool, learning about family, wildlife and why listening to his parents matters.

Ma Hippo decides that Harry is now old enough to start eating grass. Harry isn’t impressed with the idea at first, but soon gets the hang of it — and eventually eats so much that his tummy becomes sore.

Pa and Ma Hippo have warned Harry to stay close because the wild can be dangerous while he is still young and small. When curiosity gets the better of him and he wanders into the bush, a lioness attacks. Fortunately, Pa Hippo is close enough to come to his rescue.

Harry also has to learn how to move and hold his breath underwater. When he surfaces too close to a boat, another lesson about the dangers of his world awaits him.
